 James Spader , Emmy Winner!

James Spader's Outstanding Actor Acceptance Speech:
"Oh, my goodness! I feel like I just stole a pile of money from The Mob. And they're all sitting right over there. Where the hell is Elaine Stritch when you need her? All my, my bosses are sitting back there. You know, I've been to thousands and thousands of concerts in my life, and I can tell these are the worst seat I've ever had. Here's to all the other nominees in this category, who are also sitting behind me here. Ah,
thank you very much. I still, I still have no idea who votes for these things. Or how you even secure a ballot! Ah... But, thank you. And most of all, thank
you." He points, blows a kiss and waves to his girl, Leslie.

of James Spader's Emmy Acceptance Speech September 18, 2005

And the Emmy goes to… James Spader, Boston Legal.

This is the second consecutive nomination and win for James Spader. Mr
Spader won an Emmy last year for portraying the ethically challenged
attorney Alan Shore on The Practice.

Oh dear. Ah, I wanna thank the Academy. And I'd like to thank my mother. And
I'd like to thank my mother again because I forgot to thank her last year.
And the only person patient enough, patient as she, to sit through all the
sex and weirdness I've done over the years, was my father. And although he
never saw Boston Legal, I think he might have liked it. He... he wouldn't
have known what the hell to make of my character, but, ah, I think Bill
would have made him laugh. He certainly would have had an enormous crush on
Candice Bergen. And most of all I think he would have liked David Kelley.
Uh, they would have shared great passions for fishing and the Red Sox and
being off by themselves. And where David, and where David is a wonderful
writer, my father was a wonderful reader, uh, he would have been very proud
tonight. Thank you. And thank you, my dear.

And the Emmy goes to… William Shatner, Boston Legal.

(Alan Alda is shown tearing up a piece of paper. And the guy from Lost
    laughs.)

Thank you. My God. The other day uh, I saw David Kelley. I said, “Hi David!”
That was the longest conversation I’ve had with him in two years of doing
this show. If he had given me a chance I would have said, “David, I admire
and respect your great talents. Thank you for the opportunity of working
with people... James Spader, uh, and the whole cast, the people behind the
scenes, the writers, everything.” Thank you so much. Thanks to my wife,
    Elizabeth. Thank you.

The official Emmy Consideration DVD sent to Academy members
contains episodes "Schmidt Happens" and "Death Be Not Proud".
The performances of Shatner, Bergin and Spader were both commanding and fun,
but the back of the DVD states "For your consideration in all
categories". "Schmidt Happens" also launched the story of Bernard the
Skillet Killer [Leslie Jordan] and Death Be Not Proud also included Shelley
Long as the nymphomaniac, so there is a possibility that these two may get
nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress and Actor in a Drama Series [Sharon
Stone and William Shatner won in 2004 in those categories]

"The role of any actor is to draw you in without chewing the
scenery.  Masterful in its rhythm and pace, this was evident in
Valley's fluid, almost 4 minute cross-examination of the police
detective. He reeled you in and you hung in there with him in full
          attention... "

 The 2004 Golden Globes

William Shatner WON a Golden Globe for "Performance by an Actor in a
    Supporting Role."
"I really wanted to win," Shatner said afterward
backstage. "It's all part of the fun of acting. Acting is like being in a
sandbox and pretending, so this is part of the pretense." (The Associated
      Press)
        1. What a meaningful kiss.  2.
How happy James Spader was - he's your one true pairing.

"... and, of course, David Kelley, who writes those wonderful words."
